Many young adullts say they wish school taught them something practical, like how to pay taxes or invest their money. Trying to learn this information on your own is pretty difficult, as there are few sources to get the basics without also being given a sales pitch for some investment scheme or “sure-thing” stock.
Fortunately, a new book written by the “7 Dollar Millionaire” teaches about saving and investing in an easy to understand way. Its because Happy Ever After: Financial Freedom Isn’t a Fairy Tale was written for the author’s teenage daughter, with simple language that explains financial concepts and strategies in a highly enjoyable fashion. In fact, each chapter starts with a fairy-tale like story!
When you read the book, you will learn the fundamentals of understanding money, saving and investing and how the ‘magic’ of compound investing can transform tiny initial amounts into genuine wealth. What’s best is that the author makes financial freedom seem very real and achievable. Instead of trying to win the lotto, he encourages readers to save a certain amount of money and literally shows you how that will grow into a large sum within a certain time frame.
The goal: FINANCIAL FREEDOM. Or really just “freedom,” because healthy finances and the ability to live freely go hand-in-hand.
One of the tools he employs is the easy to use formula: save 25x your yearly expenditures and earn 7 percent on it, and you are set. He covers why and how in-depth in the book.
He also employs the acronym M.I.S.S.I.O.N., which stands for Money, Income, Saving, Spending, Investing, Owning and Now. Its the last which is the most important–which is that no matter your current financial state, whether you are young or old, you should start working on saving and investing NOW.
Overall this book is highly recommended. There are nuggets of wisdom which can literally change your finances and your life.
