Being compared with such talents as Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child, with one iHeart Radio executive proclaiming, “Her music could change radio,” could get to anyone’s head. However, former American Idol contestant Scarlet Ayliz is quite down-to-earth and accessible, as you can see when you read her interview with us below where she opens up about both her past struggles and future dreams.
Currently, she is in the studio working hard on her debut album with executive producer Aaron Pearce (Justin Bieber, Jill Scott, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Lopez). Along with her music, she also has a TV series in development.

Hello Scarlet, nice to e-meet you! Tell us a little bit about yourself outside of showbiz.
Hey! Nice to E-meet you guys too! My name is Scarlet Ayliz, I’m seventeen years old and outside of showbiz I’m a pretty chill person. I like to read and write as I tend to think a lot, and literature helps me busy myself when I’m on a break from whatever musical project I’m working on at the time. I love playing The Sims and my favorite thing about it is character customization and building/decorating their homes. I like to watch videos, mostly live performances, and I like to dance terribly in my living room. So I guess, in short, I am pretty normal outside of my work.
I understand you have some new music coming about. What can you tell us about it?
My new music is pretty dope. It’s got a lot of live instrumentation on it, and has a lot of elements from different genres wrapped up in it. I can describe it best by saying it’s the type of music you’d wanna play on both a night out, and a night alone with your thoughts. I think it’s gonna be able to reach a lot of different people, and shake things up a little bit in the industry. But for now, that’s all I can share. I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!
What’s the release date?
Sometime this year~ Most likely after a majority of the younger generation has been vaccinated though, haha.
In a recent interview, you mentioned overcoming a lot of insecurity from some things which happened to you. A lot of teens are in the same spot. Could you elaborate on what those things were, and what helped you overcome them?
I struggled a lot, and still do sometimes, with my self image and with my place in the world. I haven’t always been the most silent person, but I haven’t always said the right things either. I tend to beat myself up over a lot of things and always took things to heart when they weren’t that serious. My insecurity mostly stems from my inability to let go easily, and I’ve been working to better myself in that aspect. But the biggest challenge is learning what to take seriously, and what to cut loose. What helps me cope however is just… minding my business and educating myself on things that I may have had wrong. Education and understanding actually goes a long way! I know people may find it silly but the more you learn about people and life, the easier it is for you to find your place in it. I just read up on things and dissect them and that really helps me to feel more at ease. [Great advice! – Editor]
What’s been the biggest challenge in launching your career so far?
The pandemic for sure. Everyone around me, including myself, has a great work ethic and we have our stuff in order. But travelling in this pandemic has been awful and dangerous, so it’s harder to get things rolling when we have to follow these guidelines. Luckily it’s clearing up just as we’re reaching where we want to be with regards to building up my socials. So I think this is a challenge that can be overcome with some patience.
And who or what has helped you most so far?
Just being able to make music has really helped me. I’ve become a pretty solitary person over the years, friends are good but as a teenager it’s hard to balance friendships especially when you’re moving in such a unique direction. Music has offered it’s stability to me, and I am very grateful for that.
What are your eventual goals in the entertainment industry?
I hope to become a respected singer, and writer. I want to change the way people view certain people, and I want to bridge the gap between a lot of things and groups of people. I want people to both respect me, and admire me, but I also want people to know that I’m not a doormat. I wanna be a boss!
Dream collab?
I want to work with either BTS, or Beyonce, Doja Cat too, but when I’m older.
Favorite social media influencer or channel and why?
I don’t like influencers. But if I had to pick a channel on youtube, or youtuber, to pick from…? probably Kurtis Conner. He’s funny and respectful, but also keeps it G.
Secret celebrity crush?
It’s not a secret, but I really like Jungkook from BTS. I think he’s incredibly talented, very attractive, and insanely cool. I respect him a lot.
Biggest pet peeve?
Probably men, I don’t like the way they’ve been treating women especially as of late and wish they’d do better.
One food I REFUSE to eat (and why) is ___________
Pastelles. That’s some gross gramma food right there.
Secret fear?
Being underwater! Sharks and unknown creatures of the deep all on my toes? Nah. I’m good!
What’s the last movie or show you watched, and give me a review…but you can only use TWO WORDS for the review : )
Vertigo! … “I’m Confused”
The one thing I cannot live without is__________
Music lol.
Most embarrassing moment IRL you wish you could do over?
Probably my entire ninth grade year of highschool. I thought I was older than I was and should have just stuck to ELA 1 haha.
Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you?
I cannot speak a lick of Spanish.
What else are you working on or have coming up next?
Aside from music~ I’m writing a book based loosely around my experiences and the people I’ve met. It’s got a symbolic meaning so it’s set ahead in the future and I used their setting as a representative for the poor way children, especially those with mental health conditions, are treated and regarded.
Anything else you want to tell our readers and your fans?
Thank you for reading! Thanks for sticking with me, and I hope you guys love the music. Can’t wait to meet you all someday 🙂
Could we get a quick selfie of whatever you are doing right now?
Sure thang babey!
Love, Scarlet <3
